Camp Week - by Danny Small

When we went kayaking I nearly fell out of my kayak because I was going really fast. I got a really wet sleeve and my hip got really sore. When we played tag I went really fast to get away from the taggers. I won tag - it was really fun. I had a black kayak which looked cool. I really liked kayaking even though it was really hard to turn around in the kayaks. When we were going to the shore we had a race and Brodie came first and I came second. Kayaking was really fun.

Sleepover - by Brodie Wilson

On Thursday the year fives and fours had a sleep over. Thomas and I slept in Matthew’s tent. After that we got free time and I played on the playground. Then we had tea. For tea we had potatoes and sausages, also homemade coleslaw. After tea we had ice cream and then we got free time which was cool. After free time we got to go into the hall and played some games. When it was dark we played spotlight then we went to bed.

Kayaking – by Bree

What I enjoyed about camp week was kayaking because when we jumped in our kayaks Cameron gave everyone a push start. We played games like candlestick and piano. With candlestick you had to tag people with your paddle by the front of their kayak. If you were tagged you would put your paddle in the air and if somebody who was not in tapped the front or back of your kayak you could paddle away again. When we played piano keys we stood up and walked on each others kayak.
I think that camp week and kayaking was really awesome and I hope that the polytech people enjoyed as much as I did.

Kayaking on the Waihao River - by Max Sail

In outdoor education week the year fives and I went kayaking on the Waihao River.
With the help of the polytech students I have to say it went really well. Before you could go onto the water the polytech students made sure you had your gear on properly. Then whoosh!!!!! You were launched onto the water.
My favourite part was when we played piano keys on water. It’s when you get out of your kayak and walk\crawl across everybody else’s kayaks without falling into the water, then get back into your own kayak. I was hoping somebody would fall out but I think that nobody would like to because the water was very COLD. I had good fun kayaking on the Waihao River. I hope the other year fives did to!!!

Sleepover – by Hannah

On Thursday 8th of February 2012 the year 4 and 5’s slept over. We had sausages, potatoes and homemade coleslaw, made by Mrs Harris for tea. We played spotlight at around 8.30. I was in for one of the rounds. I kept on shining the torch I was using on people but they would not go back to the soccer goal!!!!! I was sleeping in Rosie’s tent with Emily and Rosie. We got to have a time when we could shine our torches and talk, then we had to whisper, and then we had to be silent.
