On Friday, Saturday and Sunday Billybob, Ruma Kea’s bird came to my house. So did Bree Anderson. First we had afternoon break. Then we played for a wee while. It was weird because I fainted. The three days that Billybob was at my house were fun and cool.

Billybob at Rebekah's
Billybob had a great ride on my bike going home from school. When Billybob and I got home I got ready for Scottish dancing. After Scottish dancing Billybob, David and I watched Casper. Billybob got scared at one point so I covered Billybob’s eyes until he said stop. After the movie we went bed. I had Billybob’s bed all set for him. The bed was the bed that Dad and I made. We both had a very big sleep because we both had a big day ahead of us. In the morning we woke up early. At about ten we watched ‘Shrek’ and then we went to the teddy bears’ picnic. After that I got ready to go and see ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’ at the theatre. In the middle of the movie Billybob squawked and everybody said shh.

CAMP WEEK 2010
Here are some recounts which the class has done about camp week. We had camp week in March. Camp week is when we go to different places and play games with the polytech students. The year fives went kayaking on the Wednesday and the year fours went abseiling on the Thursday. On the Tuesday and the Friday we played in our whanau groups. Ruma kea and Ruma kakapo stayed over at school on Thursday night. Instead of the polytech students the parents helped with putting up tents, and making breakfast and tea. For tea we had potato, sausages, coleslaw and dressing.

Thursday night.
On Thursday the year fours went abseiling.
I did the little one first and boy I had to wait a long time. After three people went on the big cliff it was time to go back to school. When we were at school all the year fours and fives got to stay at school for the night. We played spotlight, I only got shone on once but I didn’t get a turn with a torch. After we played spotlight it was time to go to sleep in our tents.

Staying over
On Thursday we stayed over in our tents. We played spotlight and had tea which was so yum. After that we brushed our teeth and went to bed. Seth and Keenan got up in the night and ran around the school. When we got up in the morning we played games with the polytech people. It was lots of fun. The best thing was the water slide and the face painting. Tandia’s face paint was so funny and so was Seth’s. When Tandia got home she felt sick.

Kayaking
On Thursday the 4th of March we went to Murray Bruce’s place to go kayaking. There were a lot of obstacles we had to pass like standing up while kayaking. It was hard but we managed to do it. There was mud and it was gooey and slippery. The water was cold. Zoe’s group mates were Shakoya and Katelyn, and Quinn’s group mates were Xavier and Alex. It was fun for everyone.

CAMP WEEK KAYAKING
On Wednesday the year 5’s went kayaking. Lots of people fell
out and they had to swim to the shore. The polytech students helped the children make their boat act like a seesaw to tip out the water. Mikaela tipped her boat about fourteen times and four of those she purposely tipped it. Jacques fell out about four times and he purposely fell out twice. The water was cold and muddy.

The Day the Year Fives went Kayaking
On Wednesday during camp week the year five children went kayaking at Murray Bruce’s farm at Willowbridge. The children were split into two groups. Group one went kayaking first and group two took photos first. We did donuts, and went backwards and forwards. Some of us stood up on the kayaks and paddled standing up. Some groups rafted which means joining the kayaks together by holding each other’s kayak. We played a game where the first one to get the ball won. The ball was a Highlanders ball. We had to wear a life jacket and a helmet and we used a paddle. Even though it was raining we still had heaps of fun.

Abseiling
On Thursday during camp week the year 4 children were driven by parents from Centennial School to a place with big boulders. It was on a farm at Arno. There was a big rock, a small rock, a medium rock and an extra new rock to abseil down. The new one was the scariest because when you got down to the bottom it curved in. When you get to the bottom there are prickles. It was fun at abseiling.

Camp Week
On Wednesday the year 5s went kayaking. On the way there Brittney, Tandia, Eden and Monique were singing to Hannah Montana. It was very cold but the weather got better. Rebekah fell out twice and Monique fell out once. Owen was Monique and Rebekah’s teacher. When Monique fell out she tried not to touch the ground but when she had to the muddy ground squeezed her toes. When Rebekah fell out the first time she was walking onto Cassidy’s kayak and fell out. The second time she fell out she was trying to get her paddle.

Sandcastles
On Monday during camp week we went to Timaru. First we all got into groups and made sandcastles. After that we had lunch. Then we went and got into our class groups and played games on the beach front. We played volleyball, ran relays and after that we played flag racing. Then we all went off to the wetlands. That was fun because Seth and Keenan saw an eel in the water. For the bug catching Seth and Keenan caught a white banded spider in a cabbage tree. After that we went to the volcanic rock.

The Water Slide
On Friday, which was the last day of camp week, we went on a water slide at school .It was on the hill on the school field. The water slide was very slippery. We had to have dish washing liquid on our togs so when we went down it was more fun. We had to go down on our tummies. There was a man at the top of the hill so he could spray us with a hose - it was freezing .When it was Angus’s turn he went to the end of the water slide which was amusing. When Shayna went down she got soap in her eyes.

Abseiling
On Thursday all year 4s went abseiling. We all went by car. We went down the big cliff. The cliff was scary. Angel was a bit of a showoff because she went down the big cliff five times. Leighton did it too. At the bottom of the big cliff there were spikes. Angel missed out on the 1st one first. Leighton missed out on his second go on the big cliff because Stewart said we had to go home. It was 2.30pm when we got back. Finally it was time to play and stay at school.
