The First Day Of Camp Week

I woke up thinking camp week, yeah. The reason I thought yeah is because no homework and no more schoolwork for a week. After the first two activities I was so exhausted I could barely breathe. Finally it was the third activity and that game was hosted by Andy and Tim. Heres how you play - first team to get the flag from the other team wins. I was first one to get the flag. But I was unlucky because I got tagged just outside of the cone. Looking on the bright side someone came and got the flag so our team won. The next game was such fun. We played seal tag where there were hoops. The seals tried to eat you but if you were in a hoop you were safe. When there was only one hoop left I leaned just a little bit and KERSPLAT!!!!!! Everyone fell over but me.
Then we went into the hall and played with balloons. Our last session was a tarpaulin name game. Our team won.
Whoops I forgot to tell you my name. Thanks for reading!

KAYAKING

On Wednesday all the year fives went kayaking. I got taken there by Jack’s mum. When we were kayaking I had lots of fun and lots of crashes too. The water was really cold, really deep and really creepy too. We were on the water for an hour or two.
After we hopped off the water we went for a walk with Mr. Jury. We played some games for ten minutes. Then we watched the other group kayak. While we were watching them we played with the sand and water. Then we went back to school.
I had lots of fun and a great new experience.

Outdoor Education Week

On Wednesday the 16th March 2011 the year fives went kayaking at Murray Bruce’s farm. One group kayaked first and while they did that the other group played games with Mr. Jury. We played M. I. U. and that stands for Make It Up. After the other group were finished kayaking we all had lunch. My lunch was a chocolate donut and it was yum.
After we had our yummy lunches my group got to kayak. I was so excited. We played this game called piano and I put my hand up to play. You had to walk across the other kayaks and that’s what I did. While I walked the rest of the group sang happy birthday to me because it was my birthday and I was turning 10.
That was the most awesome day ever.

Camp week

Last Monday we did all these activities on the field for camp week. My favourite game was the flag game. Our school has a hill so we used the hill for the game. The game was where there were two teams and they tried to get the other team’s flag. If you got tagged you had to go to jail. Your team could come and get you. I had to swap teams with Lily. The other team didn’t want me to swap teams.

Kayaking

On Wednesday the year 5s drove out to the Waihao River to go kayaking. When we were on the water we played a game called piano keys. After that we had to make a big raft and then got numbered .The ones went first - they had to stand up and do the actions and sing ‘Head, shoulders, knees and toes’. Most people fell out and it was funny .Then it was the twos turn to stand up. They had to the chicken dance. After we got off the water we went for a walk. We played some games and then we walked back and watched the other group of kayakers.

Kayaking

Last week during outdoor education week the year 5s of Waimate Centennial School went kayaking. There were two groups of children. The 1st group went kayaking while the 2nd group took a walk, then they swapped around.
I was in the 2nd group and I fell out of the kayak twice. It was FREEZING but I enjoyed it. At kayaking my best friend Phoenix pushed me into the water when Leighton was on my kayak. We had to swim to shore and then we got back in our kayaks. The coolest bit of kayaking was doing the piano keys.
